Rice cultivated in a desert environment with MNG natural fertilizers reached flowering and panicle formation on schedule — with irrigation water use down around 67% compared with traditional farming, and without permanent flooding.
Qatraneh, Jordan — At its industrial complex in Qatraneh, Manaseer Group presented the results of a rice cultivation experiment carried out in a desert environment with innovative natural MNG fertilizers, demonstrating the ability of these locally manufactured solutions to support crops in extremely challenging conditions: limited water, saline soil, a hot climate, and no reliance on traditional flood irrigation.

Rice was chosen deliberately. It is one of the crops most sensitive to salinity and one of the heaviest consumers of water, which makes it the hardest possible test for any agricultural input. The experiment used natural MNG products manufactured locally by Manaseer Group, including AquaSave, a natural soil water management system — chemical-free and biodegradable — that stores water and nutrients in the root zone, enhancing absorption efficiency, increasing the plant's ability to withstand stress, and reducing irrigation water consumption.

Trial conditions
- A hot climate with little rainfall.
- Saline soil with a salinity of 5.3 decisiemens per meter, above the limit at which rice usually begins to lose its yield.
- Irrigation with saline well water using drip irrigation instead of traditional flooding.
Results
Despite these conditions, the rice reached flowering and ear formation on schedule. Compared directly with plants grown in the same soil and irrigated with the same water, the MNG-treated plants exhibited stronger, denser growth and produced more numerous and longer ears.
The experiment recorded a decrease in irrigation water consumption of about 67% compared with traditional flooded rice (a change of irrigation method — drip instead of flood — together with the MNG programme), highlighting the possibility of improving water use efficiency in rice cultivation without relying on traditional flood irrigation.
Made in Jordan from Jordan's own resources
MNG products are based on natural minerals from the Manaseer Group's quarries, processed using precision technologies down to approximately 3 microns — linking the Kingdom's mineral resources with the needs of the agricultural sector, and turning natural resources from raw materials into value-added products through investment in research and innovation.
Engineer Ziad Al-Manaseer, Chairman of the Board of Manaseer Group, said:
This achievement embodies our vision of transforming Jordan's mineral resources from raw materials into value-added products manufactured in Jordan. The MNG innovation connects the rich mineral wealth of our land with the agricultural need for sustainable solutions that conserve water and revitalize the soil. This was made possible by a leadership approach that believes in investing in research and innovation, and by the efforts of a dedicated and responsible management and technical team. We are determined to continue on this path, bringing natural agricultural solutions from Jordan to the world.
For Jordan — one of the world's most water-scarce countries, and one that relies on imports to secure a large part of its food supply — the achievement carries a national dimension: a local solution that raises water use efficiency across crops and gives farmers a practical answer to water scarcity and soil salinity.
